A winter wedding is such a treat. Maine has become quite a destination wedding state. With good reason too! The landscape is amazing and there are plentiful backdrops, but for most couples that means some sort of beach location or at least a summer or fall seasonal choice. So it was very exciting to me that Susan and Mike chose a to get married in the winter. Susan had hoped for snow and that is just what she got!
I adore the quiet and peaceful calm that come with a snowfall. So while it was quite cold out for Susan in her 50's style dress and we worked rather quickly to get her inside by the fire, they had the most wonderful snowfall portraits.
The Ducktrap Retreat is a perfect spot for an intimate winter wedding. It was just the right size for the small guest list and intimate party that they chose to have. I also was very excited to see the vintage brooch bouquet that Susan made herself. Truly fabulous! I also loved Mike's ring - a tattoo that can't ever get lost. (: And the sachets full of home grown lavender were a wonderful idea as well. I loved all the personal touches that they took the time to add.
Susan and Mike you were both so wonderful, fun, and easy to be around! I loved how kind you were to everyone during your day. Nothing brought stress or worry you simply enjoyed the moments you were in. I thank you for letting me capture that. Cheers to many many years of happiness together!
